Biography
Martha started her rise to fame at the young age of 13 when she became model, appearing in fashion shows as well as television and print advertisements. Martha attended Barnard College in Manhattan, where she earned a degree in European and architectural history in 1962. There she met her husband, and she started her family and brand six years later. Martha self-trained herself in gourmet cooking and started her own catering business, which graduated to becoming $1 million dollar business.
There Martha expanded into the publishing industry, and began publishing books in all aspects of cooking, home gatherings and décor, event planning, gardening and beekeeping, and so on. With her fully involved in the industry she branded the Martha Stewart Living ideal, this including books, television shows, magazines, newspaper columns, as well as an internet site. Her market became worth $763 million.
Beekeeping fame
Amongst all the fame and fortune, Martha has begun to appreciate the little things, which is where her love for beekeeping came from. She is also concerned with how the environment is at the moment, which has resulted in the lives of bees being threatened. She has joined the bee movement calling bees, “these mysterious, somewhat frightening, awe-inspiring benefactors of nature.” After apprenticing with Ed Weiss, her local beekeeping expert, she has become somewhat of an expert of her own.
